An Improvement!

Yesterday, local scooter, Dylan, took the initiative to speak directly with Chesham Council member concerning the join between the jump-box and the flat-bank. Seeing Dylan's photographic evidence of the potentially-dangerous fault, the council member told him he would send someone to repair it the day after. And so, today, we've got a great solid seal on the ramps! Thanks, Chesham Council!

Frisbee in the sun!

Good News!

A man representing Radii Skate Park Repairs and his co-worker came down to Chesham Skate park today, looking for and analysing the faults in the construction of the ramps and related subjects in order to eventually present their findings to the council. The faults identified included the poor construction of the ramps - small cracks in the fibreglass and loose bolts that cause rolling up the transition to be difficult and jolty. According to the men, the fibreglass material that holds the ramps is too thin as it is only one layer thick, and therefore inappropriate for extreme sports use. Observing scooters and skateboarders riding, they weren't surprised at residents' complaints from across the road from the racket the ramps made! One of them said it would be extremely costly to replace these with a more suitable skin material, but little improvements like lengthening the metal bump at the bottom of the small quarter pipe and flat-bank seemed more plausible and could help strengthen the ramp and make it a smoother ride for users. I suggested a couple of additions that could spice up the park: A nipple, (AKA a small mound of concrete, as seen in Stockwell Skate Park in London), and, a grind-box - this could be a great multi-purpose obstacle for manuals and grinds. I'm very happy a group have properly approached the situation and are working to help! Can only hope it's onwards and upwards from here!
